I am so excited to finally be writing my first blog post here at The Wellness Junction. For a few years now I have been sharing my ‘Journey to Wellness’ with many on Instagram @thewellnessjunction and now thanks to the amazing Bec Lee at Brightwebsitedesign the time has finally come to write in a little more detail about my own recovery from Fibromyalgia/M.E, but also share my knowledge and passion for naturopathic nutrition and some ideas for good wholesome food. Starting this blog has been a dream for so many years and I feel excited to share my recovery from M.E/Fibromyalgia on M.E. Awareness Day. The reality is that I wouldn’t be starting The Wellness Junction if it wasn’t for this illness that has embroidered every part of my being for the last six and a half years. For years it pinned me down and made my world a very dark and lonely place. Hours cooped in bed in a dark room whilst the sun shone bright and my small kids were slowly learning to crawl, walk and do their very first monkey bar at the park. It was tough to miss some crucial milestone moments in life and there is no doubt that at times the black dog was knocking on the door! In fact I honestly think you need balls of steel to deal with this illness and I can proudly say that I have finally acquired a pair (just don’t tell the other half!). My post today is not about the detail of my journey, there will be many opportunities in the future when I plan to share useful tips and ideas that will support you in your recovery from Fibromyalgia/M.E. Instead I want to share with you the positives and that is that you CAN GET BETTER! It may take time, but with the right mindset, and dedication, you hold the power to really change your life.
I hope that by sharing some of these before pictures I can inspire those of you who are still in that dark tunnel with no light in sight to keep believing and not to give up. I really hope that you will join me to discover ways in which you can take the right junction to a healthy life. Healthy living is a lifestyle, but so often we associate it with pain and short term punishment. In fact we seldom think about it unless we are ill or want to lose weight. So I really hope that I can inspire you to understand the role of nutrition and how food and lifestyle form the foundation to a happy and healthy life. I promise to keep the information on this blog simple and to the point, as I know just how daunting jargon can be. I also appreciate that as a society we are bombarded with conflicting advice about health and well-being and I hope that here at TWJ I can dispel a few of these so called myths and focus on the things that really matter.
Healthy living should be simple, and that is the key! The more we try and complicate it, the more complicated it gets, so press the subscribe button and stay tuned for some healthy recipe inspiration and advice on simple changes you can incorporate into your daily life. Whether you are living with a chronic illness, daily fatigue or just want optimum wellbeing, I hope that you will find some useful information that over time will enable you to take the right junction to a healthier life. All the recipes are created by myself, unless otherwise stated, and are free from gluten, dairy, soy and are also mostly refined sugar free. I am still learning about food as medicine, and like with everything, there is always room for improvement, so I hope that by interacting with you we can inspire each other to live a healthier and happier life.
