What is Nutritional Therapy?

Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy is a therapy that incorporates nutritional science, whilst taking into account lifestyle factors such as stress, work and the environment that may be impacting on health. The focus is on looking at the body as a whole rather than just focussing on individual symptoms. Good nutrition is central to good health and nutritional therapy looks at how to provide the body with the correct nutrients and support to create the right environment to optimise our health potential.
How we feel depends on the internal chemistry within the body, which relies on functions such as enzyme production, metabolism, hormone function and managing inflammation, all of which require nutrients to function. The right combination of food is key to support the biological processes within the body and if we fail to provide these, it ultimately leads to deficiencies in certain areas in the body which will result in symptoms. Very often treatment involves suppressing the symptom(s), rather than addressing the root cause. Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy is focussed around restoring balance within the body by addressing the root cause, which can often take time.
This can be achieved by addressing food, lifestyle and in some cases the use of supplements and functional testing. Food is used as the primary healer but sometimes supplements may be suggested to assist the body’s natural recovery processes. Our bodies are amazing at what they do and will always strive to do its best. It is no surprise that what we put into our bodies can affect the way we feel. Each client is unique and will receive a personalised Wellness Plan to support their health.

Who Can Benefit?

Everyone can benefit! Good nutrition is central to good health and we can harness our body’s natural ability to heal as long as we provide it with the right support to do so. Understanding how to strike the right balance with juggling life’s stressors and knowing which nutrients to choose, is essential to maximising health and wellbeing. In our modern world, lifestyle factors such as stress, lack of sleep and processed food have such a profound impact on our health, and for many it has become acceptable to feel generally fatigue and suboptimal. Others live with chronic conditions where they have been told nothing can be done. I believe that with right support and guidance change and improvement is possible for the majority of people.
So whether you are feeling fatigue, continually struggle to lose weight, struggle with sleep, have ongoing bloating or flatulence, constipation, chronic colds, asthma, hay fever, acne, psoriasis, eczema, low mood, poor memory, CFS, ME, fibromyalgia, IBS, SIBO, auto-immune conditions or anything else for that matter, then contact me to find out how we can work together to support your journey to wellness.

Can I still benefit from Nutritional Therapy if I am on medication?

Absolutely. Drug-Herb-Vitamin interactions will always be considered and checked. Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy works alongside conventional medicine and, where appropriate, links will be made with other health professionals to ensure that you receive the best possible support to your health concern.

How Long Will It Take For My Symptoms To Improve?

Everyone is unique and biochemically different, which means that everyone will respond differently to a particular Wellness Plan. There are no quick fixes when it comes to addressing things from the root up. Recovery can take time, but with the right focus, dedication and knowledge I am confident that we can work together to bring positive changes to your life.
